Empire Comics
When getting my monthly comics fix I usually go to Buried Under Comics in Manchester, Connecticut but since I'm in Rochester I checked out Empire Comics on 1176 Mount Hope Avenue.
Not only are they a brick-and-mortar store they also have a store on eBay. They actually have two stores available at the online super giant eBay. They are:
stores.ebay.com/Empire-Comics
stores.ebay.com/EMPIRE-COMICS-2
The Empire-Comics two store has a better selection of merchandise while the Empire-Comics store has Anime and Manga available to purchase.
I've been to the store twice during my RIT college days and during those visits I found Empire Comics to have a variety of comics, which included major publishers Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, and others. As I drove to the store, which is quite easy to miss if you aren't paying attention when driving on Mt. Hope, I came upon the shop. It's inconspicuous and only noticeable by the sign on the window door.
I went inside and was surrounded by collectibles. The walls were covered with bookcases and there were models all over the place. The store also has posters and toys. I felt a bit overwhelmed and found the store to be a bit disorganized. There also isn't much natural lighting available in the store but really, who needs light when your trying to entire the dream world of comics. The latest comics were available in the front end of the store. They were located on a shelf that is about knee high.
I came looking for the latest issue of Spawn and the latest issue of Wizard. I found the two and took a look around. There were a bunch of trade paperbacks available. For future reference I saw that they had some of the Akiko tpbs available and would probably pick one up in the near future.
Checkout was a breeze primarily due to the fact that I was the only customer there at the time. Empire Comics isn't as nice a shop as were I normally go but there is plenty that will interest the dark side in all of us.
Pros: place is brimming with collectibles. eBay web store has a lot to offer.
Cons: Place feels a bit disorganized.
