Sinbads
Ever had some Arabic flatbread with olives, feta cheese and plenty of great middle-eastern spices?
If not your tongue is going to waste on McDonalds and other non-unique offerings. Honestly, once you have had one of the dinner plates from Sinbad's on Park ave you may never go back to American food. Well, maybe you won't go back but at the very least you will enjoy a great unique offering that truly is Rochester.
SinBads is a restaurant that was probably once a small dinner or pizzeria. It has been turned into a happening place to enjoy some great middle-eastern cuisine that will awaken the Arabic in all of us.
Basically you park around the back of the building and walk up what looks to be an old front porch from the 1940's. Upon entering the restaurant though it's a completely different feel. Track lighting reflects off the walls and creates a truly unique sparkle to the dishes and glassware.
The food glistens with the olive oil that is so heavily used in this cooking. Artichoke hearts and fresh herbs are being gobbled down at what looks like every table.
The place seats about 25-30 guests quite snuggly, so if you want a good place, either wait or go early. The service is usually pretty good but I definitely wouldn't put it down as "kind and friendly".
The attitude that goes into the food is also in the waiters. It's true, they will help you with anything you need, but they won't be smiling. Maybe it's just really difficult to get a read on them, I haven't spent much time around Arabic peoples.
It makes no difference, the food is great the location is exciting and the atmosphere is unique and different. If your looking for a good Rochester place to eat, but want something different The Perspective highly suggests SinBad's.
Pros: One of Rochester's best.
Cons: The food may seem to have an attitude problem.
